GTA 6 PC Release Date: Will It Come to PC?

No, GTA 6 is not coming to PC at launch, and there is no GTA 6 PC release date. Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto VI only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching November 19, 2026, and it has never announced a PC version at all. That does not mean PC is ruled out forever: Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two keeps pointing at PC’s growing importance, one credible report points to early 2027, and every major Rockstar game of the modern era reached PC eventually. This page separates what is official from what is reported, so you can plan around facts instead of rumours.

If you are playing on console at launch, our GTA 6 release countdown tracks the exact launch timing for November 19.

Is GTA 6 Coming to PC? What Rockstar and Take-Two Have Said

Start with the official position, because it has never changed. Every Rockstar announcement since the game’s reveal in December 2023 has listed exactly two platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Rockstar Store sells only the PS5 and Xbox versions. There is no PC product page, no PC pre-order, and no Steam, Epic or Rockstar Launcher listing. Take-Two’s own release slate for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2027 also lists GTA VI for PS5 and Xbox only.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has been asked about PC repeatedly, and his answers are warm about PC without ever announcing this game for it. In May 2026 he said plainly: “Rockstar Games has announced GTA 6 for console only so far.” In the same period he explained the approach: “Rockstar always starts on console because, with regard to a release like that, you’re judged by serving the core.” He has also said PC “will continue to be a more and more important part” of the business, noted that PC can now account for 40% or 50% of sales for a game released on both, and told shareholders the company’s strategy is to launch on platforms with a meaningful audience. Read together: a PC version fits everything Take-Two says about its business, and it still has not been announced.

GTA 6 PC Release Date: The Q1 2027 Report, Explained

The most specific PC claim anywhere comes from GamesBeat. On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release GTA 6 on PC in the first quarter of 2027, January to March, citing four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans who asked not to be named. Rockstar did not comment on the report.

Two things keep that report in the “unconfirmed” column. First, anonymous sources are not an announcement, and Rockstar’s silence is not a confirmation. Second, the report sits awkwardly next to Take-Two’s official release slate, which runs through March 31, 2027 and contains no PC version of GTA VI at all. One of those two pictures will change; until Rockstar speaks, the honest answer is that a Q1 2027 PC launch is a report, not a date. The next scheduled moment where news could surface is Take-Two’s quarterly results on November 9, 2026, and this page will be updated if anything official lands.

What Rockstar’s History Says: The GTA 5 and RDR2 PC Gaps

If the GamesBeat window proves wrong, history offers a slower pattern. GTA 5 launched on consoles in September 2013 and reached PC in April 2015, a gap of about 19 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on consoles in October 2018 and reached PC in November 2019, about 13 months later. Applied mechanically to a November 19, 2026 console launch, that pattern points to late 2027 or 2028 for PC.

Treat that as pattern reading, not a prediction with a source behind it. Rockstar has broken patterns before, the Q1 2027 report claims this time is different, and the only version of events that counts is the one Rockstar announces. What history does establish firmly is the direction of travel: no modern Rockstar flagship has stayed console-only forever.

Can You Play GTA 6 on PC at Launch Somehow?

Not through any official route that has been announced. There are no PC pre-orders anywhere, and no storefront lists the game for Windows. Cloud streaming is not a back door either: on October 7, 2026, Xbox’s chief strategy officer Matthew Ball stated that GTA 6 “will not be streaming exclusively or to PC”, ruling out a streamed-to-PC option at launch. On November 19, the only way to play GTA 6 is on a PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro or Xbox Series X|S. Console players can already plan their download around the GTA 6 pre-load; PC players have nothing to pre-load, because there is nothing to buy yet. If you are weighing up a console instead, our breakdown of GTA 6 on PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series S answers every older console in full.

Will GTA 6 Be on Steam?

Nobody knows, because there is no PC version to list. For what it is worth, the pattern from last time cuts both ways: Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC launch came first to the Rockstar Launcher and the Epic Games Store, with Steam following about a month later, while GTA 5 has lived on Steam for years. A Steam release for GTA 6 on PC is a reasonable expectation and an unconfirmed one at the same time. Anyone selling or reserving a “GTA 6 Steam key” today is selling something that does not exist.

GTA 6 PC System Requirements: None Exist Yet

There are no official GTA 6 PC system requirements, because there is no announced PC version to attach them to. Every requirements table currently circulating online is either invented or copied from GTA 5’s decade-old spec sheet, and neither tells you anything reliable about a 2026 game built for current-generation consoles. When Rockstar announces a PC version, minimum and recommended specs will come with it, and this page will carry them. Until then, the only honest buying advice is: do not upgrade your PC for GTA 6 yet.

Should PC Players Wait, or Buy a Console?

That depends on one question: how much do you mind waiting somewhere between a few months (if the Q1 2027 report is right) and possibly two years (if the historical pattern is)? If GTA 6 is the game you have waited a decade for, a console guarantees November 19, and the GTA 6 price and editions guide shows exactly what each console version costs. If your PC is your platform and spoilers are your only real enemy, waiting costs nothing but patience, and every signal from Take-Two says the wait ends eventually. What nobody should do is pay anyone for a PC version, a beta key or early access today: none of those exist.

GTA 6 PC Release Date FAQs

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Not at launch, and not on any announced date. Rockstar has announced GTA 6 only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Take-Two’s leadership speaks positively about PC and has never ruled a PC version out, but no PC version has been announced.

When is the GTA 6 PC release date?

There is no announced GTA 6 PC release date. A GamesBeat report from October 13, 2026, citing four anonymous sources, points to the first quarter of 2027, but Rockstar has not confirmed it, and Take-Two’s official release slate through March 31, 2027 lists no PC version. Rockstar’s historical console-to-PC gaps (about 13 to 19 months) would point to late 2027 or 2028 instead.

Why is GTA 6 not on PC at launch?

Rockstar has not given a detailed technical reason. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s public explanation is strategic: “Rockstar always starts on console because you’re judged by serving the core.” Rockstar launched GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 the same way, with PC following later in both cases.

Will GTA 6 be on Steam?

It is unconfirmed. There is no Steam listing for GTA 6 because no PC version has been announced. Red Dead Redemption 2 reached Steam about a month after its PC launch on other stores, and GTA 5 is on Steam, but GTA 6’s PC storefronts will only be known when a PC version is announced.

What are the GTA 6 PC system requirements?

None have been published, because no PC version has been announced. Requirements tables circulating online are invented or copied from GTA 5 and should not be trusted or used to plan a PC upgrade.

Can I play GTA 6 on PC through cloud streaming at launch?

No. Xbox’s chief strategy officer stated on October 7, 2026 that GTA 6 will not be streaming to PC at launch. At launch, the game is playable only on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S hardware.
