Creature Catch Rules at a Glance
Creature Catch is a timed catching game. Creatures wander across a sunny meadow, and you have 60 seconds and 25 capture orbs to catch as many of them as you can before the round ends.
| Round | 60 seconds |
|---|---|
| Capture orbs | 25 per round, and a missed throw still uses one up |
| How to catch | Click or tap a creature to throw an orb at it |
| Scoring | Every catch scores points, and rarer creatures are worth more |
| Goal | Beat your own best score, which the game saves in your browser |
| Round ends | When the 60 seconds run out or the last orb is thrown |
The Four Rarities Compared
Every creature in Creature Catch belongs to one of four rarities: Common, Rare, Epic or Legendary. The rarer a creature is, the more points it is worth and the better it is at escaping your orbs.
| Common | The easiest creatures to catch, and worth the fewest points. Best for warming up your aim. |
|---|---|
| Rare | Worth more than Common, and quicker to escape. |
| Epic | Worth more again, and escapes more often than Rare. |
| Legendary | Golden in colour, worth the most points of all, and the hardest to catch because it escapes most often. |
Rarity changes the reward and the risk, never the controls: one click or tap throws one orb, whatever you aim at.
Choosing Which Creatures to Catch
With only 25 orbs, every throw matters. Early in the round, catch a few Common creatures to warm up your aim, then save most of your orbs for Rare, Epic and Legendary creatures as they appear. A missed throw still costs an orb, so wait for a clear shot rather than throwing at creatures that are about to leave.
Aiming at Moving Creatures
- Aim a little ahead of a creature in the direction it is walking.
- Creatures moving straight toward or away from you are easier targets.
- Tap quickly but calmly, because rushed taps are often misses.
Why Creatures Escape, and How to Waste Fewer Orbs
A throw in Creature Catch can fail in two different ways: the creature escapes your orb, or the creature leaves the meadow before you throw at it. Rarer creatures escape more often, and every creature leaves after a while, so waiting is its own risk.
- Escapes are not misses: a well aimed throw at an Epic or Legendary creature can still fail, because the rarest creatures are the best at breaking free.
- Leaving is a timer: a creature you watch for too long can be gone before you spend the orb, which is why the game warns you not to wait.
- Every failure costs the same orb: a missed throw, an escape and a creature that left all leave you one orb poorer with no points.
Keep some orbs back for rare creatures, but throw while the creature is in front of you. Saving every orb for a Legendary that never stays costs more rounds than it wins.
