The 12 Blocks and What to Build With Each
Block Builder gives you twelve blocks, and each one has a job it does best. Strong blocks hold a building together, see-through blocks let light in, and the special blocks finish a build or bring it to life.
| Grass, dirt and leaves | Ground, gardens and trees. Start a landscape or soften the edges of a build. |
|---|---|
| Sand and snow | Beaches, deserts and winter scenes. Good for ground cover in themed builds. |
| Stone and brick | Walls, castles and towers. The reliable choice for anything tall or grand. |
| Wood | Houses, cabins and floors. Warmer than stone for homes. |
| Glass and water | Both are see-through. Glass makes windows, water makes pools, rivers and moats. |
| Gold | Treasure rooms, signs and decoration where you want a build to stand out. |
| Lava | Volcanoes and fiery details. Place it last and place it carefully. |
How to Build a House Step by Step
Every good build follows the same order: ground first, then walls, then a roof, then the details. Working in that order stops the common beginner problem of a finished roof with walls that do not meet it.
- Choose your start: use New World to build into a ready landscape, or Empty Sky for a flat, clean base.
- Lay the floor: drag a row of wood or stone blocks as the base, as wide as the house should be.
- Raise the walls: build up from the floor edges and leave gaps where doors and windows will go.
- Add glass windows: fill the gaps with glass so the inside stays bright.
- Finish with a roof and details: cap the walls, then add gold, leaves or a water pool to make it yours.
Build Ideas to Try
- Beach house: sand ground, wood walls, glass windows and a water pool.
- Castle: stone walls, brick towers and a gold treasure room.
- Volcano: a stone mountain with a lava top and lava running down one side.
- Winter village: snow roofs on small wooden huts.
- Pixel art: use Empty Sky and draw a picture with coloured blocks.
New World or Empty Sky?
New World creates a random landscape with hills and ground to build on, which is great when you want to start a house or village straight away. Empty Sky gives you a completely blank canvas, which works best for pixel art, floating islands or detailed builds where you want full control.
Good to Know
What blocks can I use in Block Builder?
There are twelve blocks in Block Builder: grass, dirt, stone, wood, leaves, sand, water, brick, glass, gold, snow and lava. Stone and brick suit walls, glass and water are see-through for windows and pools, and gold and lava are finishing touches.
Does Block Builder save my world?
Yes, your world saves automatically in your own browser on this device, so you can close the page and keep building later. There is no account and nothing is uploaded. Clearing your browser data removes the saved world, so keep big builds in a browser you do not clear.
Can I play Block Builder on my phone?
Yes, Block Builder works on phones and tablets as well as laptops and desktop computers, in the browser with nothing to download. On a touch screen you tap or drag to place blocks, and you choose the Eraser tool to remove them.
Can I share my world or visit other players?
No, Block Builder worlds cannot be shared, and there is no multiplayer or way to visit worlds made by other players. Your world is saved only in your own browser on your own device, which keeps building private and simple, with no accounts or servers involved.
Is Block Builder like Minecraft?
Block Builder is an original 2D building sandbox, so you build on a side view grid instead of a 3D world. It is not made by or linked to Minecraft or Mojang. If you enjoy placing blocks and building freely, it offers the same creative idea in a simpler, lighter form.
Is my Block Builder progress saved?
Your best scores and your world are saved in your own browser on this device. Clearing your browser data will reset them.
