Build walls, stop the raiders · Works on mobile & desktop · No download

Base Defense is a free survival strategy game where you protect your base core from raiders. You get a short build phase, then raiders arrive from every edge in bigger and tougher waves. Spend scrap on cheap wood walls, strong stone walls and automatic turrets, repair your plan between waves and see how long your base can hold out.

Base Defense is free to play on PlayQuestHQ with no download and no sign-up. It works on phones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.

Tips to Win

  • Build your first turret right next to the core so it covers every side.
  • Raiders take the easiest path, so use walls to funnel them past your turrets.
  • Stone walls cost more but hold three times longer than wood.
  • From wave 3, big brutes appear. They smash walls fast, so add turrets before then.

Base Defense Rules at a Glance

Base Defense is a survival game where you build walls and turrets with scrap and stop waves of raiders from destroying your core. The run ends when the core falls, so every scrap you earn should make the next wave easier to hold.

Building a Funnel

Raiders walk the easiest path to your core and break walls that block them. Instead of boxing the core in completely, use walls to leave one long, open path and line it with turrets. Raiders then walk past your turrets for longer, and your walls last much longer because fewer raiders attack them.

How Scrap Works in Base Defense

Scrap is the only currency in Base Defense, and it arrives in three ways: slowly over time, 5 scrap for each raider your turrets stop, and 15 scrap for each brute.

Because scrap keeps flowing while you fight, time spent holding a wave is never wasted. Early scrap is best spent on a first turret beside the core, because a turret earns scrap from every raider it stops. After that, save stone walls for the routes brutes will take, since stone lasts about three times longer than wood. Cheap wood walls still matter: use them to bend the raider path so enemies walk past your turrets for longer.

Planning for the Brutes

From wave 3, big brutes join the raiders. They smash walls quickly and take many hits. Before wave 3, spend scrap on extra turrets near the core rather than more walls, and use stone walls only where brutes will pass close to your turrets.

Mistakes That End a Base Defense Run

Most Base Defense runs end for one of three reasons: the core is boxed in, the turrets are too few, or the brutes arrive before the base is ready.

  • Sealing the core inside a full box of walls. Raiders then chew through the nearest wall instead of walking a long path past your turrets.
  • Spending every scrap on walls and no scrap on turrets. Walls only slow raiders down, while turrets stop them and earn scrap back.
  • Placing the first turret far from the core. Raiders arrive from every edge, so a turret beside the core covers every side.
  • Ignoring wave 3. Brutes smash walls fast, so add turrets and stone walls on their routes before that wave starts.

Good to Know

How do I get more scrap in Base Defense?

You earn scrap every second, plus 5 scrap for each raider and 15 for each brute your turrets stop.

How is the Base Defense score counted?

You get points for every raider stopped and a bonus at the end of each wave you survive.

What can you build in Base Defense?

You can build wood walls, stone walls and turrets. Wood walls are cheap and quick to place, stone walls cost more but last about three times longer, and turrets shoot raiders automatically.

How many waves are there in Base Defense?

There is no final wave in Base Defense. Waves keep arriving from every edge and grow bigger and tougher, and the run only ends when the raiders destroy your core. Your score grows with every raider stopped and every wave survived.

What happens when the raiders destroy the core?

The run ends as soon as the core is destroyed. Your final score is recorded, and your best score is saved in your browser on this device, ready for your next attempt.

What are brutes in Base Defense?

Brutes are the big raiders that join the attack from wave 3. They smash walls quickly and take many hits, so build extra turrets near the core before wave 3 and put stone walls where brutes will pass.

Can I play Base Defense on my phone?

Yes, Base Defense runs in the browser on phones and tablets as well as on laptops and desktop computers. You tap a building at the top, then tap an empty square to build, and there is nothing to download or install.

Is my Base Defense progress saved?

Your best scores are saved in your own browser on this device. Clearing your browser data will reset them.
