GTA 6 Price and Editions: Standard vs Ultimate Edition

GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the US, and both editions are the full game. The $20 gap buys one thing only: the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, a set of 16 in-game extras woven through Jason and Lucia’s story. If you only want the story, Standard is everything you need, and you can still upgrade later for the same $20. Our GTA 6 release countdown covers the launch date, pre-load window and platforms in full, while this post settles the price and editions question properly.
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, and prices have not moved since. There are only two editions, no Deluxe tier and no separate Collector’s Edition of the game, which keeps the decision simpler than most big launches. The confusion comes from the extras, the pre-order bonus and the merchandise box that looks like an edition but is not one, so each is separated below.
GTA 6 price at a glance
The table below is the whole price story in one place. Everything after it explains each row.
| Edition | US price | Format | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $79.99 | Digital or code in a box | The full game |
| Ultimate Edition | $99.99 | Digital only | The full game plus the Ultimate Edition Upgrade (16 extras) |
| Ultimate Edition Upgrade | $20 | Digital add-on | Upgrades a Standard copy to Ultimate at any time |
Outside the US, the same two editions cost £69.99 and £89.99 in the UK and €79.99 and €99.99 in the EU. Those are the only regional prices this post lists, because the edition contents are identical everywhere and the store listing in your own region is the final word on local pricing.
GTA 6 Standard Edition price: $79.99 for the full game
The Standard Edition is not a cut-down version. It is the complete single-player game, the whole Leonida map, the full Jason and Lucia story and the entire open world, with nothing held back. Rockstar describes it as a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet, and that description applies to Standard exactly as it applies to Ultimate.
Standard is the only edition you can buy in a box, and the box needs a clear warning: it holds a download code, not a disc. Rockstar confirms this on its support page. Buying the box gets you a physical case on the shelf and the same download as everyone else, and the boxes reach shops on November 12, 2026, a week before launch. Digital buyers start earlier: their pre-load opens on November 10. Full pre-load timings and the download size are covered in our GTA 6 pre-load and download size guide. If you want a disc to own or resell, GTA 6 does not offer one in any edition.
Standard suits three kinds of buyer: anyone who wants the lowest price, anyone who wants the box, and anyone who is unsure about the extras. That third group is the important one, because the upgrade path below removes the risk of choosing wrong.
GTA 6 Ultimate Edition contents: all 16 extras explained
The Ultimate Edition costs $20 more and adds the Ultimate Edition Upgrade, which Rockstar describes as an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story. The key word is threaded: these extras unlock as you play through the story, chapter by chapter, rather than landing in your garage on day one. They do not add missions to the main story, they do not extend the story, and none of them is needed to finish the game. They are cars, weapons, clothes and places that make the same story flashier and, in places, easier.
Vehicles. The headline extras are the ’95 Grotti Cheetah sports car, the ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, the Shitzu Squalo boat and the Ganado Retro Build, plus Jason’s safehouse vehicles, which include a motorcycle and a kayak. The Classic Car Collection is a side activity of its own: a commission to track down abandoned classic cars and restore them.
Weapons. The Hawk and Little Morgan revolvers are his-and-hers versions of the same powerful revolver, styled from the Vercetti estate. Personalized weapon variants add detailed engravings to Jason’s Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia’s Klose K17 pistol.
Style. Vice City Style covers exclusive outfits, hairstyles and tattoos for both protagonists, and Goodtime Gear is a custom accessories line. These are pure cosmetics, but they are the extras you will see in every cutscene.
Businesses and places. This is the part of the Ultimate Edition that changes how the world feels. It opens Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie’s mod shops, Sara’s Unisex Salon, the Stock 305 clothing store and the Electric Fang tattoo parlour, which carries more than 50 signature designs. It also adds the Paradise garage in Watson Bay, a gang hideout in Southside Vice City and the PTT Youngin$ illegal goods store inside a gang compound. Five extra businesses you can walk into is a bigger deal than another paint job, and it is the strongest honest reason to pay the $20.
Counted together, that is the 16-item Ultimate Edition Upgrade. Every competitor list agrees on the same items, and Rockstar’s own store listing names them the same way, so this is the confirmed set, not a leak roundup.
GTA 6 Vintage Vice City Pack: the pre-order bonus on both editions
Here is the detail most buyers get wrong: the Vintage Vice City Pack is not an Ultimate Edition exclusive. Every purchase made before November 20, 2026 gets it on either edition, and a launch-day purchase on November 19 counts. The pack is a retro, 1980s-flavoured set: a ’55 Vapid Stanier muscle car styled after Tommy Vercetti’s era, the Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach to keep it in, retro outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a tropical palm-tree weapon pattern based on Tommy Vercetti’s shirt that works on most guns.
Digital pre-orders get one more thing: one free month of GTA+, Rockstar’s subscription service. Two cautions belong with it. First, it is digital only, so a boxed copy from a retailer does not include the GTA+ month, which is the single strongest reason to pre-order digital rather than grab a box. Second, the free month renews automatically and starts charging once it ends, and the store listing says it must be redeemed within 180 days of the pre-order. If you do not want the subscription, cancel it the day you redeem it rather than trusting yourself to remember a month later.
Should you buy GTA 6 Standard or Ultimate Edition?
The honest answer starts with the upgrade. Rockstar sells the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately for $20, and you can buy it at any time after you own Standard. That means the decision is reversible and the price is the same either way: $79.99 now plus $20 later is exactly $99.99, with no penalty for waiting and no content you lose by starting on Standard.
Buy Standard if you want the lowest price, you want the box, or you are unsure about the extras. You lose nothing story-wise, and you can upgrade the day you decide the businesses and cars are worth it.
Buy Ultimate if you already know you want the full set from day one: the extra cars, the Paradise garage, the Southside hideout and the five extra businesses, unlocked as you play. It suits the player who will spend dozens of hours in Vice City and wants the world at its fullest from the first chapter.
Do not buy Ultimate for early access, extra story missions or a head start, because none of those exist. There is no early access in either edition: every buyer unlocks at the same moment, and Rockstar has not announced the exact unlock hour yet. Ultimate does not get you in early, and no edition does.
GTA 6 price traps: what the editions do not include
Four traps catch buyers every launch, and GTA 6 has all four. First, the $399.99 Goodtime State Vice City Collection box on the Rockstar Store is merchandise, a collector’s box of physical items, and it does not include the game. Buying it does not buy GTA 6. Second, there is no PC version at launch and no PC date announced, so a PC-only player should wait for an official announcement rather than pre-ordering a console copy they cannot use. If your question is an older console rather than a PC, our guide to GTA 6 on PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series S gives the full console-by-console answer. Third, GTA 6 is not on Game Pass or PS Plus at launch, and the launch game is single-player only, with GTA Online arriving later as a free update on no announced date. Fourth, the install size has not been announced, so any viral file-size figure doing the rounds is unconfirmed and should not decide your storage plans. Free up space before the November 10 pre-load window, and plan around Rockstar’s confirmed pre-load size of up to 212 GB.
One last practical note: pre-load opens on November 10, 2026, nine days before launch, and a pre-ordered copy downloads by itself once pre-loading opens as long as automatic downloads are on. Set that up before the 12th, not on launch night, whichever edition you buy.
